Update On The SS Galaxy

Dear Supporters and Friends of the SS Galaxy,

There have been many rumors cycling regarding the Galaxy and what really happened.  I can’t release that information as of yet.  However, I can now say that the SS Galaxy has been acquired by Linden Labs and will return.  She is currently undergoing retrofitting to sail under the Linden Labs flag.  I have been tirelessly converting all the transferable prims I personally owned to Linden Lab ownership, and my part of the project is now complete.

Sadly being under Linden Lab’s flag also means that none of the previous management or crew will be aboard in any sort of capacity.  I have also been told there will be no rentals or events.  This means she will not quite be the Galaxy you know and love.  But she will still exist in a museum state and be open for visitation in the near future.

More information will be released as I can.  I wish to thank everyone again from the guests, to the staff, and beyond.  You all made the Galaxy the special place she was, and no one can take that from us.

The Soulman takes a trip down Music Lane in the Boiler Room!

Recently we had a special party for Riko Kamachi in the Boiler Room Nightclub with The Soulman (DJ Bobby Eberhart) that was a real blast.  The room was decorated especially for the event with a Hobbit theme!

Some people were having so much fun, they were on cloud 9. ;)

 Boris showed up and made good use of the cat bed. :)

 The ladies were line dancing up a storm, and whenever got in on the action.

Someone should have told Boris there wasn't any fish in that bowl. ;)

SS Galaxy's Love Art Weekend!

The SS Galaxy proudly presents Love Art Weekend!

It is Valentines Day and what better time (or place) to show your love of art, not to mention that special someone?  

With a art exhibit including the works of: Blaize Batra, Fuschia Nightfire, Moeuhane Sandalwood, Sanspareil London, Antenna Rae, Asmita Duranjaya, Burk Bode, Em Larsso, Moeuhane Sandalwood, Neeks Karu you are certain to find something that speaks to you and have a wonderful time looking as well.  Not to mention all of the great events we have planned!  Valentines Ball, hunts, live music, and more!

On To The New Year :)

The Galaxy is a great place to celebrate and New Years Eve was no exception.  We had the Zodiac Ballroom specially decorated and even a ball dropping every hour throughout the day launching a special fireworks show for those in attendance

And we even had a special one man Koala band.:)

Spooktacular Time with the Soulman!

If you missed our Halloween Ball then you missed a real Spooktacular time!  The costumes this year were amazing.

 Why even a few prisoners managed to escape and come to the ball.

 Some of the costumes were really really hot.

 Others were quite electrifying. :)

 And some even took the phrase "dig up a date" to a whole new level.

 We get all kinds.  Even pirates looking to bone up on a few things dropped by.

And there was even some horsing around going on.

Prim Plague strikes the Galaxy!

Yesterday a unusual occurrence happened at the SS Galaxy.  A event being called by many the "Prim Plague" struck removing 99.99% of the ship.  The 32,000+ prim SS Galaxy was reduced to less than 300.

People came from miles around to check out the devastation.  Some even sailing though where the ship use to be.

Eyewitness accounts said that everything just vanished at about 10:00am SLT.  There was not any odd rezing of objects or a slow disappearance but rather everything was there, then a second later, not.

Linden Lab was called and come to find out the Galaxy was not the only sim to have sufferd this "Prim Plague".  Many sims all over the grid had also been struck.  And a few had been restored only to have it happen again shortly thereafter.

Linden Lab told us at the time it was a server glitch of some sort and rather than restore any more regions, only to have them disappear again, they waited investigating the problem.

Meanwhile everyone teleporting to the ship were falling into the water.  A quick temporary gangway, with signs explaining the situation was constructed to prevent people from meeting up with the shark.  Although then again, the shark was also missing.  Our staff whale was surprisingly still there, and we have renamed her "Lady Survivor".

About four hours after the situation began the Galaxy was restored to all her glory via a full rollback (the first we have ever had to do in 5+ years).  Linden Lab has not mentioned the full details to us as to what caused this in the first place.  We thank all of our guests for their understanding of the situation and apologize for the inconvenience, but it was totally out of our hands.

This Weekend is Memorial Day in the USA.  And with this in mind we have SLASHED the prices on Galaxy, Stirling and VIP Star Suites!  But only until Tuesday!  Galaxy suites only 3900 a week!  Furnished Stirling Suites (deck 4 AFT) are  3000 a week!  VIP Star suites 500 a day or  1500 a week (furnished)!

The SS Galaxy Celebrates 5 years! UPDATED

It is hard to believe that almost 5 years ago one mans dream created the great vessel we all know and love that is the SS Galaxy.  This year we remember her inauguration on June 9th & 10th.  And of course you know we will be celebrating in style:

Maximillion Kleene Live In Concert 12pm in the Zodiac Ballroom

Maximillion Kleene plays a combination of Rock, Pop, Alternative and solo acoustic styles covering well loved classics to newer.  His vocal style is versatile, with a full toned acoustic sound...from soft and melodic to pulsing and energetic...a versatile, all-around rock performer with a sugary sound, smooth groove, a little punk edge and a lot of in-your-face ROCK!  Be sure to arrive early as he tends to fill sims quickly.

CECI Dover Live In Concert 1pm  In the Zodiac Ballroom

We are pleased to present Ceci Dover live in concert!  Ceci was born and raised in Argentina and is currently living in Spain.  She has been singing all her life.  A regular at the Galaxy we are certain you are to enjoy the special program she has planned for us.

Carah Nitely LIVE 2pm SLT at the Zodiac Ballroom

We are pleased to announce we will have Carah Nitely Live in Concert tonight.  The Galaxy is her 'home' stage and it wouldn't be a anniversary celebration without her.    Carah sings a variety of popular songs including Angel, The Rose, Black Velvet, Think Twice and All I Wanna Do to name a few.

7seas Fishing Contest 6pm SLT at the Boarding Gangway

A unlimited 7seas fishing contest is to take place from 6:00pm to 7:00pm.  The first place winner will receive a weeks stay free in one of our staterooms!  2nd and 3rd place winners will receive what every fisherperson needs  BAIT!   Hope you will join us. A Prize pot starting at 500L will also be divided among the winners.  Custom Trophies to the top 3 as well! And prizes for leveling. 

AND we have a special 5th Anniversary blue print with a weeks stay in a Galaxy Suite given to those that complete it!

Ice Skating Event with DJ Eria!  2pm SLT at the Glacier Cafe & Ice Skating Rink

Want to show your best ice skating moves while Rockn to the beat of DJ Benny?   Then join us Today with your host Kiandra Kiranov for fun on the big FREEZE. 

Ice Skates and HUD with many different animations are provided.  Or feel free to use your own.


Frogg Marlow and Jaycatt Nico 5pm SLT At the Zodiac Ballroom

Frogg and Jay are two of the first musicans to bring live music to SL.  Their unique songs, combination of guitar, piano and wonderful vocals (not to mention their personalities) give each show a wonderful experience you certainly do not want to miss.  Whether  you are a fan or have not heard them before, be sure to join us for some wonderful music!


Debi Latte LIVE 6pm In the Zodiac Ballroom

Debi joined SL in July of '08 and has been singing at venues all over the grid.  She honed her craft singing in RL choruses and choirs, at concerts and weddings, and with small local RL bands.  A unique performer that is often at the Galaxy, and if you have ever attended one of her shows, you will know why.

SS Galaxy at Fishiversary 2012!

We are pleased to announce we have a booth set up for this years Fishiversary (if you didn't know, it is the yearly 4 days of 7seas fishing fun).  There are lots of custom fish to catch from various booths around the sims.  And you might even win a weeks stay at our booth.

Fishiversary is open from Thursday until Sunday night.

SOPA Could Destroy The Internet As We Know It

We rarely  get involved or have a voice in politics, however we are making a exception in this case as the bills listed below could (and likely will) ruin  the internet as we know it.

The SOPA or Stop Internet Piracy is a bill currently in the USA Congress that would require ISP's to remove TOTAL access to a site via DNS if they were even accused of having something illegal on their site.  While the DMCA can requires take down of suspected illegal content this removes the entire site. 

In other words lets say someone filed a complaint against Google.com or Secondlife.com, the internet providers would be forced to remove their DNS listings meaning that if you typed in Google.com or Secondlife.com nothing would come up (you would most likely get a 404 error).  No investigation is needed.  It is guilty until proven innocent.  It would also force all providers to be police.  Most companies that carry user generated content (youtube, second life, forums etc) do not have the manpower (or cannot afford) to police/find every little thing on their site and therefore would likely go out of business rather than try to continue.  And another bill called Protect IP Act is just as bad.

These bills if enacted/made law will destroy the internet as we know it in the USA and will likely affect the rest of the world in a large way.  This bill must be stopped.  If you are in the USA call your congressman and representatives and tell them you DO NOT want these bills and for them to vote unanimously NO.  Check out the Electronic Frontier Foundation for information on how to do this https://action.eff.org/o/9042/p/dia/action/public/?action_KEY=8173 and do so as soon as possible as much as possible.  This is scheduled to come up for vote on January 24th.  Please note phone calls carry much more weight than email or letters.  If you are in the USA it is best if you call as soon as possible as much as possible, lets overrun their phone lines and let our voices be heard against this threat to the internet as we know it.

9/11 Remembered: Light A Candle In Our Chapel

Candles have been placed at our chapel on the SS Galaxy.  These are in honor of those lost during 9/11.  Please feel free to light one if you lost families and friends at that time.

The Management and staff offer heartfelt condolences to those families and friends that have lost someone 10 years ago on this day.
