The SS Galaxy to close May 3rd

Dear Supporters and Friends of the SS Galaxy,

The Management and Crew of the SS Galaxy would like to thank each and every one of you for helping make the Galaxy community one of the most thriving, vibrant and welcoming on the Second Life grid.

Together with your help, we have been building wonderful memories since February 2007.

All good things must come to and end, and in the Galaxy’s case, we will be closing the ship on May the 3rd. All current renters will receive a 100% refund of your most recent payment. Please help us by picking up all your items as soon as possible; before the 3rd we will be doing room by room returns throughout the week as well if anything is left.

For us as the Crew, the privilege has been ours to meet and interact with each of you over these eight years. The memories we have from these experiences, will continue to inspire us and our values, long beyond 2015.

Many of you have become more than our cabin tenants - we consider you a part of the Galaxy family as well  :-)

In the many diverse strands of lifestories, God has granted us the blessing of having our respective stories intertwine, at least for a time.

As we prepare to go on beyond April 2015, the Crew wish you that the strength in bonds will continue to sustain each and every one of you, along life’s way.

Security System Upgrade

We are pleased to announce a upgrade in the security systems aboard the Galaxy!  Galaxy Suites have already been upgraded AND the  Stirling Suites now have this installed as well!   This new system is much easier to use and allows for configuration by renter at the moment of rental instead of manually configured by staff (click the secure button on the wall in your suite) . 

Please note the extra security systems are only available in our largest suites, but they will never substitute for our staff.  A reminder: If you have a issue or problem please do let us know via the service call on the desk in reception.  This of course applies to everyone. :)  Also some suites have a call in their room such as Galaxy and Stirling.

Tip...easiest way to use SLURL's is to cut and paste them into your local chat (or a IM) hit enter then click on it to teleport directly there.  This is often several clicks easier than clicking directly on a website, especially if you are using a 3rd party viewer.

There Be Whales Here!

Yes the Galaxy has a new lady in our crew.  A Orca whale has joined us.  She is great fun to watch, listen to and ride.  She is located just off  the Fishing Gangway.  Stop by and say hello, I am sure she will enjoy your visit.  Hmmm now to find a xxxxxx uniform for her. ( Smiles)

In Forward just of the starboard bow (right side)  are three very frisky, fun loving dolphins.  They seem to be enjoying playing in our wake.  Take a few moments, sit in the Boiler Room, relax  and watch our threesome play.

LL Updates and we run for cover!

Linden Lab is doing a lot of updates this week.  And you may have noticed sim crossings are particularly bad as of late.  This is one reason for the lack of races on the Galaxy currently.  While LL is now working on the issue, however it will involve some large updates this week which means wide spread issues across the grid.


I know The Galaxy has experienced more general sim performance issues in the past few days.  And we will continue doing restarts as required to help mitigate this issue, however we may still have some performance issues that can't be helped.  We apologize for the inconvenience.


On a good note you might have noticed that LL has released a User Interface update to their latest viewer.  It removes the sidebar and gives a customizable list of buttons, which can be arranged to your liking on both sides of the screen and on the bottom.  The secret is to right click on a button and select edit toolbar then a window pops up.  While that is up you can drag and drop any button to the window to get rid of it or drag one out and add it to the tool bar of your choice.



You can also arrange the current ones to the configuration you like best.  And if you right click on the tool bar there is a option to show the labels or not.  It is a vast improvement in my opinion over the old sidebar interface as each button opens a window instead of the sidebar.

Getting spooooky around here!

Have you visited the Galaxy lately?  Well it would seem that the season has made spoooky appearance!  Someone released the spiders to do the decorating!  Hmm I am looking for the culprit now but in the mean time drop by and see what those little devils have been up to!

And when I find out who let out the Kracken...........

New Dances Aboard

We have upgraded our couples dance system aboard adding 12 new dances including Samba, Ballroom Jive, Rumba, quick step, Cha Cha, Waltzs among others.  Simply click the intan couples double dance ball  and jump on the dance balls that rez near you.  You can then click it again to pick which dance from the menu.  We hope you enjoy the additions.

Photo taken in our starlight lounge, a wonderful location for having a quiet dance with that someone special.  The dances are available in every dance location aboard including our Zodiac Ballroom, Constellation Lounge, Coral Lagoon Pool Deck, Boiler Room Nightclub, and of course our Starlight Lounge. :)
