Update On The SS Galaxy

Dear Supporters and Friends of the SS Galaxy,

There have been many rumors cycling regarding the Galaxy and what really happened.  I can’t release that information as of yet.  However, I can now say that the SS Galaxy has been acquired by Linden Labs and will return.  She is currently undergoing retrofitting to sail under the Linden Labs flag.  I have been tirelessly converting all the transferable prims I personally owned to Linden Lab ownership, and my part of the project is now complete.

Sadly being under Linden Lab’s flag also means that none of the previous management or crew will be aboard in any sort of capacity.  I have also been told there will be no rentals or events.  This means she will not quite be the Galaxy you know and love.  But she will still exist in a museum state and be open for visitation in the near future.

More information will be released as I can.  I wish to thank everyone again from the guests, to the staff, and beyond.  You all made the Galaxy the special place she was, and no one can take that from us.

The SS Galaxy to close May 3rd

Dear Supporters and Friends of the SS Galaxy,

The Management and Crew of the SS Galaxy would like to thank each and every one of you for helping make the Galaxy community one of the most thriving, vibrant and welcoming on the Second Life grid.

Together with your help, we have been building wonderful memories since February 2007.

All good things must come to and end, and in the Galaxy’s case, we will be closing the ship on May the 3rd. All current renters will receive a 100% refund of your most recent payment. Please help us by picking up all your items as soon as possible; before the 3rd we will be doing room by room returns throughout the week as well if anything is left.

For us as the Crew, the privilege has been ours to meet and interact with each of you over these eight years. The memories we have from these experiences, will continue to inspire us and our values, long beyond 2015.

Many of you have become more than our cabin tenants - we consider you a part of the Galaxy family as well  :-)

In the many diverse strands of lifestories, God has granted us the blessing of having our respective stories intertwine, at least for a time.

As we prepare to go on beyond April 2015, the Crew wish you that the strength in bonds will continue to sustain each and every one of you, along life’s way.

From all of us here at the SS Galaxy,

A heartfelt thank you.

Galaxy Holiday Catchup 2014

What has been going on aboard the Galaxy?  Lots, however I admit we haven't been posting here as much as we should have.  Something we are going to rectify.

Some of the fun activities we have had during the past holiday season:

The Kids Party for AV's and Zooby Babies with DJ Mandy went over well and we will have another one in the near future.

Everyone had fun and the excellent costumes made it hard to pick a winner.

Then our Halloween party was Spooktculuar!  And some even got a doughnut stuck on their nose when bobbing for apples (how?  I have no idea ask Henning).

All of the costumes were great and choosing a winner was especially difficult.

Debi Latte had several wonderful concerts with us.  If you missed out don't worry we will have her back again soon.

Another wonderful performer Joaquin Gustav returned for several shows as well.  And shall be again soon (check our events calendar for updates).

And of course who could ever forget the concerts of Ceci Dover!

And not to mention our Holiday ball with The Soulman!  We even had our own holiday flying squirrel!

In short we had a great holiday season aboard the SS Galaxy and if you missed it?  Well fear not our next one will be even better.  And of course our upcoming events are always listed at http://www.ssgalaxy.net!  Something is always going on aboard the Galaxy!

The Galaxy turns 7!

The SS Galaxy turns 7 next weekend and we are celebrating in style starting Saturday with:

Frogg Marlow and Jaycatt Nico 1pm SLT in the Zodiac Ballroom

Frogg and Jay are two of the first musicians to bring live music to SL.  Their unique songs, combination of guitar, piano and wonderful vocals (not to mention their personalities) give each show a wonderful experience you certainly do not want to miss.  Whether  you are a fan or have not heard them before, be sure to join us for some wonderful music!

 *Update!*
Then right after we have
Joaquin Gustav at 2pm!

Based in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Joaquin is a guitarist, composer who has gained national popularity with his gifted guitar playing and agile musical imagination.  He is also the winner of the "Avi Choice Award 2012" Favorite Male Musician.  Not to mention he was the lead guitarist and arranger for Quijotes, a well known latin band in Argentina.  Definitely a performance you won't want to miss!

Then later in the evening at 7pm is Maximillion Kleene!

Maximillion Kleene plays a combination of Rock, Pop, Alternative and solo acoustic styles covering well loved classics to newer.  His vocal style is versatile, with a full toned acoustic sound...from soft and melodic to pulsing and energetic...a versatile, all-around rock performer with a sugary sound, smooth groove, a little punk edge and a lot of in-your-face ROCK!

And on Sunday from 12-2pm:
The one and only Soul Man (DJ Bobby Eberhart) 12-2pm SLT In the Zodiac Ballroom with one of his soulful sets guaranteed to touch your musical soul.  And come dressed in your finest as we have a most elegant contest going on for the entire event.

And to close the festivities:

DJ Pirate (Piratelover22 Resident) 5-7pm In the Zodiac Ballroom with a special romantic music set, not to mention taking your requests!  Be sure to bring that someone special.   Not to mention a best in Black and Gold Contest.  Come dressed to impress and you just might win!
